Court work can be concerned with either Civil Law or Criminal Law.
Civil Court Work
At JHS LAW our busy Civil Court department is run by Partners, Alasdair Bryce and Lynn McMurchie, who, along with Senior Solicitor, Vicky Raymond are able to provide focused and practical advice in relation to the many, often difficult and challenging, matters of law which can affect everyday life such as:
- Contract and Consumer Disputes
- Debt and Insolvency
- Landlord and Tenant
- Property Disputes
- Building Disputes
We endeavour to deal with matters in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The aim is always to resolve problems to the benefit and satisfaction of the client. Where possible we will seek to achieve a favourable resolution to any dispute, through negotiation, with a view to reducing the cost and anxiety which such disputes bring. Sadly, that goal is not always possible and where it is not, we are then in a position to provide you with advice and representation to guide you through the litigation process before the Courts.
We offer Legal Aid in such cases where the client is financially eligible.
Criminal Court Work
In Partner, Alasdair Bryce and Senior Solicitor, Dominic Kearney, we are able to offer you high quality representation and advice in the full range of criminal matters before the Justice of the Peace and Sheriff Courts and, through access to Counsel, in the most serious matters that appear before the High Court.
At JHS LAW, we have a significant amount of experience in conducting trials and proof hearings in the Courts which aim to focus on achieving the best possible result for our clients at all times.
We are registered with the Scottish Legal Aid Board to provide Criminal Legal Assistance through the Legal Aid System to those who are financially eligible. We also participate in the Court and Police Station Duty Legal Aid Schemes.
